The Atkinson or formally the Arts Centre in Southport. A music venue showcasing comedy and live music of notable acts including Elkie Brookes, Liverpool band The Christians and the Love Folk weekend in February as well as many theatrical plays and speakers.
Our visit to the Atkinson was part of the Southport Festival 6 – 8th May. Featuring various local bands on stages around Lord Street. Therefore it is an outdoor and indoor event for everyone to enjoy. We arrived to play inside the Atkinson. Our set was arranged by Pete Rimmer a local musician who we have known for a while through various open mic nights and the Bothy Folk club.
When we arrived a stage was setup and Pete was finishing off his set. It was fairly packed inside and people had be sat enjoying the live music. Fortunately Pete had drawn in a crowd and they stuck around to watch our set. Meaning we
had a sizeable audience to start with.
Once the sound was checked we quickly setup and began to play. The set compromised a mixture of covers and original music. We also displayed our CD’S for sale. It was an appreciative audience, which is always good for any artist.
After our 40 minute set was done we sold quite a number of our original CD’S to the audience. A few of them had heard us a few months back on BBC Radio Lancashire. All in all it was a pleasant afternoon with some fantastic local talent.
Thank you to Pete for getting in touch and asking us to perform for the Southport Festival we had a great time. A place quite fitting for live music and one of Southport prominent centres for the arts.
