Our performance today is at CHET WEDDINGS after the ceremony with the pop up acoustic setup.
CHET Weddings a truly unique celebration (Crosby Hall Education Trust) is set in lovely surroundings. With its 16th century converted barn building it is a great venue to get married. The last time we had been here was for Philippa & Stevens wedding so we knew what to expect from the staff and venue.
We arrived early and unloaded the van. We introduced ourselves to the groom (who looked very dapper indeed). They had booked the Pop Up Acoustic setup as they wanted daytime entertainment in the courtyard. The idea was we would be performing to the wedding party in anticipation of the arrival of the bride. After setting up we awaited the arrival of the bride, performing to the guests as they arrived. It was perfect as they congregated round the bride on the courtyard.
Katrina had wanted us to learn a special song for her. She requested that as they leave the ceremony and were walking out we would follow them with the guitar singing. Leading the guests back into the courtyard. Since the venue is licensee for weddings you can officially marry on site. The song Katrina picked was All You Need Is Love by The Beatles.
We approached the doors as they were signing the register and crept into the back of the room. We waited for the signal from the registrar and then we burst into song. The idea was that we would have all the guests singing them out into the courtyard and it worked perfectly.
Since we were completely unplugged we had to be as loud as we possible. By the time we reached the courtyard everyone was stretching their vocal chords. We had everyone singing “All you need is love, love is all you need”. After that we rushed back to our command centre, plugged in and played our last set during the wedding breakfast. It was a lovely touch on a beautiful wedding and hopefully a special moment for the bride and groom to remember.
The guests were served Pimms, canapes and were kept entertained as they waited to go in for the meal. The clouds rolled in as we were threatened with rain. Luckily it stayed off till the end of the second set. Although rain is not a huge issue with the pop up acoustic due to its mobility. As we can simply move our stuff to a drier area all within 10 minutes.
Most of all huge Congratulations to Katrina and Paul. Thank you for asking us to be part of your special day. Furthermore we hoped you enjoyed your big day may you be blessed and happy together and enjoy a long fruitful relationship.
We had a lovely message from Katrina “A big thank you Mr and Mrs Rag Tag for making our wedding so special and memorable. All our guests loved you and they loved being able to join in with you to sing. The highlight for me was coming back down the aisle to ” All you need is love ” you sang it brilliantly. I have been asked by numerous people who you were and how I came up with the idea of having singers before the wedding.
