Racquet Club Hotel Liverpool
What a lovely winter wonderland wedding this was. We had performed a couple of weeks earlier at this venue for a previous wedding and it’s amazing the difference the finishing touches can make to the Racquet Club Hotel Liverpool. You would think you were in completely different venue since each wedding has its own theme. The venue had been dressed by a company called Princes for a day and they had done a wonderful job. Everything was so well thought out. The beautiful couple Helen & Craig decided to have their wedding reception between Christmas and New Year. It was a wonderful idea and their theme was Christmas. Helen had asked us to perform some Christmas songs. We performed with the pop up acoustic during the wedding breakfast and kept the guests entertained with some live music until the bride and groom arrived. When they arrived we started to play Winter Wonderland and the smile on Helens face told us that it was perfect for the atmosphere they wanted to create. The bride looked beautiful with a small shrug and a dainty hat, it was like something out of a black and white movie.
As the guests were having dinner it was time to bring in the large PA. The evening function was on the ground floor so there were only the entrance steps to contend with. We set up the evening PA and after dinner the guests started to arrive. The bride had asked us to learn C’est la Vie by Chuck Berry, what a great tune. The crowd were fantastic and in particular one table were really getting into the swing of things, when we started with C’est la Vie, everyone hit the dance floor and started with their best John Travolta and Uma Thurman moves.
The live music was very successful and the percussion instruments went down a treat. Summer weddings are always very popular but I can see the appeal of a winter wedding, it was really cold outside yet so cosy inside this beautiful venue. During dinner they had a Frank Sinatra tribute act called “Perfectly Frank” and the evening was finished off with a fantastic DJ from Best Entertainments.
