Today we had the pleasure to perform for a communal garden party situated on the edge of Sefton Park in Liverpool. The building was erected in 1843 and was converted into apartments as we know them today in 1912. Set amongst these beautiful gardens we were asked to entertain the residents of Princes Park Mansions to encourage community spirit and the use of the communal grounds. They had clubbed together and arranged, live entertainment, stalls; a Pimms tent complete with fruit and home grown mint and an African BBQ complete with Chicken, Corn and grilled Plantain. All of the neighbours brought a plate of food and they sold tickets to raise money for the upkeep of the grounds. It was a wonderful idea and overall a great success, it felt more like performing to one big family rather than a group of neighbours. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and we used the pop up acoustic setup on the lawn, with our audience sat in deck chairs and on picnic blankets to join in with the musical fun. Thank you to Giulia for a wonderful day and looking after us and to all the residents at Princes Park Mansions for being so wonderful.
